The 4age is most likely to move a hilux the same as the 22r, reason being is what the 4a lacks in tork the 22r makes up and what the 22r lacks in hp the 4a makes up, because of the weight of the hilux with either motor you would most likely run the same time in a 1/4. Although if you were going to use the truck for high rpm's such as drifting the 4a would destroy the 22r, otherwise dont bother.
yeah the 4a would give me alot more rpm. what ive heard is that the 4a can dish out a lot more horse than a 22r.
I am a huge fan of the 4ag... would be really cool if you got a blacktop 20v(160hp)... In my 73 I wanted to keep it really old school and get a 2tc, although I thought about the 4a, it would be a high rpm driving truck. For more torque you could do the 7age, using a 7afe engine with 4age head and a certain porches timing belt because the block is taller. I was so close to doing that in my ae86 I had. But im going vq30de-k if it will fit. Just not a big fan of inline engines, ive messed with nissan v6s the whole time ive been into cars so I like them. But I say go for it.
so theres hybrid 4a motors too? yeah i was hoping to grab a blacktop for mine but there are only a handful of jdm cars out here, and i was hoping to grab a used engine and rebuild it.i think theres a couple 4a motors near my place.. they got mk1 mr2's and a whole lotta corollas! hopefully i find something.. then i can start a build thread! i love six packs, especially the 5vz! but i wouldnt drop a nissan motor in a toy...just my preferred choice..
1jz anyone?!? ok so finding a 4age here is near impossible, BUT... my friend is willing to give me 2 cars with 1 jz motors! i need someone with experience with these motors(engine mount kits, firewall issues, or 1/4 mile times)
