Ok I have a 88 reg cab with a 4 speed that i want to switch to a 5 speed. What vehicle do I need to look for to pull the 5 speed out of. The next question is what all would I need from the donor vehicle besides the tranny.

 

the tranny..the only thing the 5 speed is good for is highway..cant really say what truck to look for..

 

just need the trans out of any 22r or 22re equipped 2wd truck. it will directly bolt on to your truck. use your old slave cylinder, driveshaft etc.....

the 5 speed will net you a 500rpm drop from 4th. so if before you would do 65mph @ 3000rpm's in 4th, you will get the same with the 5 speed except now once you shift into 5th your rpm's will go down to about 2500rpms @ 65mph. or..... your truck will pull ~80mph @ 3000 rpms now in 5th.
