okie, so what i know is that it has the same motor mounts and some parts will work on the 5vze, but does anybody have a list of parts i would need and be smog legal in ca, and also have anybody done it on toyota pickup bagged? the reason i asking that is i heard you have to lift the truck or hood scoop in order to fit it cause of the intake being bigger.. is that true?
it's kind of a pain to decypher everything over there. and if you search 3vz to 5vz swap you get a million posts cause there are so many. if someone here has info on it, or if there is a thread on yotatech that tells you what all is needed, and lists it all step by step, please post it.
i reason i asked was because at yota tech they are bunch 4x4 guys and i heard from there that you need to body lift or hood scoop to make it fit, but i wanted to verfied if that was true, because i'm gonna bag mine to lay frame and i dont want to body lift nor have ugly hood....
Yes, you will need a hood scoop or a 2in body lift for this to work. Also, a custom intake will do the trick. All the information that you need to know, including parts list, can be found here: http://www.offroadsolutions.com/tech.html Unfortunately, the company has been shut down since 2008 I believe, but you can still get parts from them. I'm doing this swap into a 1973 Celica GT with ITB's so I don't have to worry about the intake hitting the hood. Once I get done with the prototype mani, I'll see if I can go into a self run production of them. The manifold will be using the stock lower intake mani with t6 aluminum runners. Design will be based of the Xram intake found on many v8 engines.
i believe a "short" cowl hood would suffice. idk, custom make it, order it? 2"? man, thats alot for a 2wd yota lol
Well, these swaps are typically being done to 4x4's and they need the 2" body lift or hood scoop to clear the stock intake. A cowl would probably work as well. I agree that 2" is a lot for 2wd, but if a 3.4 is what he wants, he's gonna have to figure out something to deal with that intake!
