I'm starting to look for a new truck now that I'm living in Wyoming and I've decided on a 89+ 4x4, in my search I have come up with a lot more V6 trucks than 22re powered trucks, so anyways I'll get down to the point, I have heard that the 3.0 V6 is a bad motor for blowing headgaskets but I have also talked to people that owned trucks with them and said they were great, so what I'm asking is if I were to get one with a 5 speed and around 120k-150k miles would it be an alright truck and for how long. Im looking for well informed answers ie; you owned one.

Thanks in advance for any help guys

Here in AZ there is alot of 4wd with the 22RE, the V6 is not a bad motor, just needs the updated head gasket as per recall.

[/QUOTE]The '94 was the last of the 3.0 before the Tacos and the 3.4 came out. There was a mail-out campaign for about 14K of those rigs for this year. This recall has since been rescinded.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it until one blows. My truck has 194,000 miles and still runs great, although I don't know if a previous owner changed them out at one point.

Thats how I normally am, but I just need to be sure its not gonna be like a Yugo or something. Im going to school, Wyotech, right now and housing does not allow students to even do oil changes in the parking lot or use any of the shop facilities, its a tech school wtf , Im trying to find a vehicle that will get me through the winter and make it back home to Washington when I graduate without breaking the bank you know. I miss my garage bigtime

But anyways thanks for the words of wisdom guys, keep it coming. :waytogo:

That kinda sucks, but I guess they don't really have a choice. Too many guys would take advantage of it and then wouldn't be learning what they need/want to teach you. Too bad they wouldn't let you do some kind of weekend thing.

It's a Toyota man, it should be good!
