This also happened to me, starts then idles rough, have to push the gas to keep it running until it warms up and then...fuel pump went out. More like blew up for me. My motor was covered in fuel all over the left side! Switched out the fuel pump and now the truck runs great! However, I have a 22r so i cant be sure if this is your issue. If you dont need to push the gas to keep it idling, then maybe it can be your alternator...good luck rob.

Im not to sure what the problem can be but my battery used to die and my truck would start nd turn off but it was the cable that went from the alternator positive to the fuse block inside the truck fried
