Removed the timing case on my motor on sunday and noticed that the top oil pump bolt had been catching on the chain tensioner pad - the chain had broken the drivers side plastic tensioner and worn through the casing causing the water leak the previous owner had. This bolt looks like a generic 8mm that has been cut down due to loosing the origional -does anyone know how long it should be or the toyota part number - factory manual says it is coated with sealant. Or if anyone knows where to buy this bolt from that would be apreciated.
you have to put like some sealant such as silicone or a piece of gasket where the bolt will mate with the surface.... prevents it from leaking out crazy!
I think I have figured it out, I measured a picture of this bolt in a set on sale on ebay (its easy to spot - its the only one coated with sealant in its tip) the thread length is 30mm, the one fitted to mine had been cut too long. I just going to cut it down on the grinder, clean and put hylomar on the thread before fitting.
