Hi guys. Just joined up because I got a 94 Toyota about 2 years ago and now pulling the motor for a rebuild. I'm a Chevy V8 guy so this is a new to me. Ok so its 94 pickup with the 22RE and a automatic transmission (don't know what the trans is other than that). I blew a head gasket so I'm pulling the motor to do a rebuild. My question is when pulling the motor does the torque converter come out the motor? Or should I be pulling the trans out at the same time?

When I rebuilt my engine I pulled just the engine, and now wish I had pulled the engine and trans together. It is a heck of a lot easier to line up everything hanging in a stand or jack rather than trying to get the shafts and lines and all figured out in the compartment. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with the above statement. Ive taken the engine and tranny out together twice and ive reinstalled it both ways. Much easier to do everything out if the truck unless you have a lift i guess
