I really want to do this as I have a great top end on my truck and think it could use this. I know I will have to match the intake plenum but that is fine. I know LCE make one as well as 22re performance, but the price is alittle steep. I found Maxbore.com and talked with George and he tells me he has done them no issue. I did some research and found others to have used him w/o any issues. They are old posts and just wondering if anyone has looked into this.

ive been looking into this myself... but had not really found anyone to do them other than lce and d.o.a. racing. i would really like to send my 3vz one out since people and d.o.a. sais that my motor really responds well to the increase in air volume flow. could you find out what all they do and price?

This may be ignorance on my part, but could a throttle body be adapted from another vehicle? I know the Ford Mustang has large TB's available in the aftermarket for the 5.0 and up and I imagine the same was done for Chevy's as well.

Been there done that. George has bored 3 TB for my supras and one for a Volvo 850 turbo. They came back in beautiful condition. I will vouch for him. He's cheaper now then ever before since he's gone to doing this as his primary source of income

You have to understand that no one thing gives you instant horsepower. Boreing out your TB produces more air, with that, you have to produce more fuel and engine mgmt. Immediate answer to your question is yes you will feel a faster throttle response. But have you increased overall HP? Not really. More, than that is required to say "I have a faster vehicle".

Edit: one thing that will increase HP is turbo. But there are multiple parts needed to make that happen.:)

I used a tb from a supra with a 7mge. I had to bore the intake plenum opening for it to be beneficial, but it works. I followed this link: 60mm throttle body upgrade (pane application)
I also used an intake plenum from an 89 and up 22re due to a straight flow design. Also, make sure you use the tb from the 7mge that has the same throttle positioning sensor. Other than that, it was a very simple swap and I paid a lot less than buying an after market upgrade.

i too tried the TB swap. i used the one off a 5mg. it had decent "power" increase but it felt like a 2 stroke. it lagged from a dead stop, but after about 2k or 2500 rpm (hitting the power band) it was peppy. -i also was running a bigger cam thinking it would help overall performance, but i didnt like the feel of it overall.
