    I was wondering what's faster.

dont know where to post this and im new. sorry

i have a datsun and since im familiar with them, i considered a 620.

but then i saw my first hilux in person.

I'm considering an 81 hilux with a 22r. i was wondering what you guys would think is quicker?

more than likely i'll get the hilux because the motor is so reliable.

    Datsuns are just as reliable..

It's a toss up on what's faster though they make about the same power, datsuns have more options for head and block combos and have some good racing setups.. But there more expensive because of it.

... if u build it..... it will fail......
    no such thing. jk jk
there is a limit to where u will be able to keep it smog-legal.
the smog junk was actually the first thing i eliminated on my truck.

if ur wanting to go fast, both engines have excellent platforms to start. a lot of mods and tricks. just depends on how fast u wanna go.
there's "pretty quick" and then there's "pretty fast"

My answer would be buy what you like, and research parts before you buy, to see if you can take it in a direction you want. I spent six months defining what I wanted and how to get there before I bought, and have the three priorities on my garage wall:

    Bone stock appearance
    Utter Reliability
    Low Highway RPM

That is what works for me, but I am 48. There is more than one vision, but find yours before you spend the money.

There is an 85-86 Nissan sb/sc auto that is near perfect on ebay right now, transmission swaps on these are dead easy, you might want to have a look
