ok so heres my lil dilema i own 2 trucks and i feel my 87 22r has more power vs my 94 22re both trucks are pretty much bone stock my 87 with a new head original block and my 94 has a new head with a bored out block (0.50) and while driving them my 87 has a harder launch over my 94 any ideas??? or are all that way the carb'd when camparing to the fuel injected shrug:

Hard to compare unless both trucks have the same transmissions, rearend gears and wheel diameter... Only then would it be a valid comparison of carb vs efi... :waytogo:

The harder "launch" can possibly be due to different gear ratios. The '79-83 2WD had 3.73:1 gears and was probably changed over the years.

I looked at the pictures of your trucks in your 87 thread and you difference could be due to tire size. I dont know what the ratio is for the 87, but the 94 should have the same as my 93 (which is believe is 3.59 or something close). Also you look to be running ranger wheels, I got a set of those a few months back and the tires that were on there were close to an 1" taller than the stock 195/75/14's that came stock on our trucks. So with that being said that inch size difference does zap some power. When my truck was lifted and I went to the 31's it ran like a dog until I regeared it. I think if you put stock size tires on it you may notice a difference. But I have never driven a carbed truck so my .02 is based solely on my efi truck.

Found this while looking up gear ratios, maybe it could be some help for you in figuring out the 94'

according to this I have 3.42's stock (but I should have counted the teeth while I had it apart)
