Man so i'm over here trying to get everything ready for the 22r
    bought new main bearings
    rod bearings
pistons w/ rings and wrist pins

and i go to install the frikin main bearings..
i find out they arent the correct ones
    now im like, wtf!

    **** you rock auto! lol

    wtvr...
they list laser block bearings with early 22r motors
    so watch out...

if you have a early 22r go to there 82 truck and get pre 2/82
cuz they last the last gen 22r all the way down to 3/82... or 4/82

anyways just get those pre 2/82 for early 22r and 20r and after 3/82 for laser block ONLY...

    this is gaaaayy.. lol:duh::mad:

but yeah thats a quick tip for main cap bearings
they may be the same but the fücking tabs are positioned differently! ahhh!!!!!

early have tabs offset to one side except for the middle cap and all have a slit down the middle for the "oil film". post 20r head compatible, aka's, lasers have all the tabs offset to one side and have a slit down the middle and the bottom cap bearings are solid.

now the only things that are the same for all of the motors, 20r, 22r, 22re, 22ret, 22rec(which i've never seen) and so on and so forth are the rod bearings, those are interchangeable, i believe also with the 18r's and other r series motors. those damn rod bearings are all equal.

so yeah thats my freaking $1.02! Lol... You learn from your mistakes...

ok so i have the whole motor tore apart

and i guess by saturday or monday i ought to have my ACTUAL main bearings

i honed the block out and putting in a laser crank in... my early 22r crank took a shît well, not exactly, just needs to be cut, which i am not gonna go do.. CUZ IM A MESIKAN AND AM TOO LAZY! to spend more money on...
    so far i have about:
    $120 in pistons
    $60ish in bearings
$60ish in complete engine gasket set
    $40ish in a honing tool
$30ish or more in cleaning supplies....
    $50 in misc. items

so close to or around $350 for a motor rebuild that i hope
will last me ANOTHER 278k miles, YAY!

oh and i will soon spend another $250 in a carb (weber 32/36)
and maybe put this stupidly hot cam i got at the jy for $12.50! yay!
but before the cam upgrade I will try and get this cylinder head ready, putting in oversized 2mm 22R valves into a 20r head so i think that will be 8mm or so oversized on a 20r head? idk too lazy too look that info up, CUZ IM A MESKIN! lol, i likes saying that.... MESKIN!!!!

so i guess my future mods will be also about another $300(not incl. carb)

by the way, the cam i found looks like a roller cam lol... looks twice as fat around the lobes, so i was told....

so yeah guys, i will really try and get pics tomorrow.. found the camera (YAY!)

    YAY!

Dont worry about the speed bumps wey.... It only makes you a better tech! :waytogo:

Oh and make sure you got the right thrust washers... Different tab location between laser and non-laser...

I saw a long block on Rock Auto by Marshall $750 -- is that a good replacement for an 84 FI-REC-- I don't know if I should attempt that type of project or just pay for something local. although it would be a great learning experience.
