Am in the process of desmogging an 87 22r to install in my 74. I know 12v + needs to go to the choke and idle cutoff but what about the bowl vent solenoid near the top of carb? Aside from plugging fuel line coming out of it should it have 12v connected when motor is to be running? Thanks.
22R Carburetor FAQ this might help you maybe I haven't really strolled thru his right up but it may be in there .. If not I'd try it unhooked and see if its effected buy it carbs are a simple device most of that stuff is due to emissions rules
Yeah, I'll just try that and leave it unplugged, thanx. Thinking about a 32/36. Just hooked up elec pump to Aisin and the stupid accelerator pump is spraying nothing.
What's the psi on that pump those carbs don't like high psi think about seven psi is the limit other wise your gonna overflow your float bowl
Box says 2.5 to 4. In my experience the needle/seat usually seals fine with these cheaper universal pumps. Just wondering why it seems to be getting nothing, plenty of gas when line taken of carb. These Aisins have an aura of doucheiness anyways. Can see why the Weber is common upgrade.
I here ya weber would be a a relief . But on a side not my buddie bought a rebuilt Oem of the web we put it on last weekend .. And to a surprise to me the truck idle and performed like it was new smooth as glass .. I was some what jealous cause there was no tuning involved like a weber .but I still prefer the simplicity of a weber
It just pisses me spending another 300$ on a 100 hp engine after having messed with 300 hp Chevy 350s that cost only a little more to build. A lot a praise, however, is lavished on the 22r by those with personal experience. This is what drives me to commit an entire, uh, 2 hrs a week on this dinosaur.
The 22r is a fun motor two squeeze power out of buy no means as fun as a 350 with heads and a cam but Il say after a built mine up became a lot funnier to drive being a light truck I can get the 1st thru 3rd jump on some more powerful cars .but they end up catching me buy the top of third .. U can swap a 350 in for cheap tho ..just get u a weber 32/36 and beat that oem carb with a hammer
If the engine bay wasn't so small on that old lux I'd opt for a smallblock and T5. If my last project was smog exempt like this I'd still have it.
