Hi, I've seen two different factory intakes for the 20R..one that looks much like the 22R ( but seperate runners, etc ). The other is on older Celica's ( '75 or so ). These are much different, sort of like a sideways, flat "W", with long straight runners going to #1 & #4. They look as though they might have been designed for more power in the mid-high range, while the truck manifolds might have been designed for more low-end power. Anyone have experience with the earlier one?? Have a sort of ugly ( bulky ) piece extending past the carb, egr hook up I suppose. But the long end runners look like they would flow well, since the ports in #1 & #4 have much the same angle inside the head. This would be for a 20r/22r project. Thanks for any input ! Mark
i have a 1962 toyopet stout with a 5R and in the 5R there are three different versions and all they do is look the same at first glance. there is a timing chain, timing gear and one that has square ports in the head instead of round. the 5R is a full cast iron OHV 2000cc 97-109hp, in my opinion the OHC and DOHC where steps backward, apart from the 18R-G (big heap of 5hit) the 2400cc 22R EFI only started to redeem and offer the same hp output as the 5R. there where many manifolds for the 5R pending to what they were fitted in and carburetors and my thought is SC14 supercharger Toyota R engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
