OK I had a conversation with a guy who picked up a '76 with a Weber, and can't get it to smog. He needs to go back to the stock carb. I have a stock '80 carb. He was concerned that there are major differences between the carbs from those years, and I'd probably agree. From what he said it looks like there are 8-9 vacuum hoses on a '76, and I probably have at least 3x that. Since I'm going to the Weber I won't need the carb. I'm wondering if it will work for him.

If anyone can enlighten me on the differences and if it'll work for him, let me know. He also has an '80 Celica carb for a 20R, which I'd assume is identical to my setup. Since they are the same engine I wouldn't be surprised.

    Thoughts?

in order for him to be able to pass emissions with your stuff he needs to have the complete system from your truck. the vac switches on the fenders change year to year (read: major pita)

there is a cali smog legal weber carb, has like 1 or 2 extra vac ports on it. imho the best option.

He's not gonna want another Weber, and he's in Oregon. I'll hit him up on that since I'm removing it all anyway, probably just leave it all attached.

    Thanks!
