20R coolant temp sensor location ?

    '75 20r/4spd mini camper
    I've a '75 and am trying to put in a mechanical coolant temp gauge. There seems to be 2 'sensors' on my engine. One is just below where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. This one faces straight forward and tilts a bit 'up' There is another, some 5 inches away, that faces 'dead right'
    Anyone know what the &%@^ I'm talking about? Thanks for your knowledge and typing :shrug:
