I'm putting together a 20R engine and I find the cam is very hard to turn. I don't have the rockers on and the 3 caps are installed 1,2,3 starting at the front with arrows facing froward. I have to put a pipe wrench on the cam to turn it. Is this the way it should be? If no, what should i do to correct it/

    Thanks, Bill

Send it to a machine shop to have the can bore align honed. Sounds like the head is warped

What ^ said, head is warped or the journal clearances are way too tight.

What did you torque caps to? DId you lube them first? Be carefull with pipe wrench put on the cam sprocket and bolt and turn it with that.No chain.

Cam may also be bent... Try another cam before you send the head out to be machined...
