Hello I am new to the furom and here is my first real post.....dont hurt me to bad... I did search and came up with nothing .....I built a 20/22r hybrid I want to run the mechanical fuel pump for the 22r seeing as I am using the 22r carb now when I put on the 22r or the 20r thermostat housing they both hit my fuel pump. I have seen atleast one 20r I know of with mechanical fuel pump. Here is my question, does any one know what year, model (pickup, car) that came with a mechanical fuel pump?. I cant find any thing I talked to a guy on yotatech that said he had one but he never got back with me on it so I dont know if he was bluffing or not.

 

I think 78, or 79 and newer 20Rs had the mechanical fuel pump.

Earlier ones dont have it.

man that looks like the one I have....but it does not have the hole in the side it has a blank, but it still hits the fuel pump...

 

Is it the same pump on the 22r and the 20r? Can you take a pic of the pump and housing hitting so we can see what we are dealing with...

Also you running the 20r intake right?

 

yeah the water pumps are the same its just the intakes are different. The 20r intake has the holes for the thermostat housing at a different angle than the 22r which turns the housing in toward the head, I thought about having a machine shop to mill me a pc of aluminum that will turn the housing the 22-30* that it needs to be to clear the fuel pump.
