Got one? Know the best place to get one? My heater relay started making a weird squealing noise, but after I took it our and inspected it, it looked fine. Next I pulled the blower motor to get to the resistor located in the firewall behind it and sure enough, the resistor is just toasted. I can't even really tell what in the hell it was supposed to look like to begin with it's in such bad shape. Anyone know where I can find a good deal on a new resistor? Anyone got a spare one around? I'm pretty broke these days so even for a cheap part like this I have to find the best deal I can. Thanks in advance for the help guys!
I may have already found the answer. First thing before I posted this, I checked www.rockauto.com, since they are notoriously cheap for small parts like this, but for some reason I couldn't find it in the catalog. I couldn't find any heater resistors in the catalog actually, I don't know why. After I posted this though, I did a google search for Toyota heater resistor 1985. A few results down the page some google image results came up and there was my resistor at rockauto (so now I see what it's supposed to look like anyway). They are selling it for $11.78 which is pretty not bad (unless someone has one they want to give me). So my problem is solved basically. If anyone is really bored they can look in the rockauto catalog and see if they can figure out what I am doing wrong in looking for the part, but I'll probably just have to call them and order one.
since its just a resistor( as I gather) the local radio shack or similar should be able to sell you one for like 25 cents.
In theory that's a good idea, but the resistor has three different coils on it and 4 prongs to the plug so I think it would be hard to match it up to anything at radio shack. Thanks for trying though, a $.25 part woulda been sweet!
