Wow 3 build threads at the same time.... Anyways, as a few of you have known I had been daily driving a 73 Toyota Hilux for over a year when my 244 was being worked on, truck had always been reliable except for a few mishaps with the distributor and engine cover deciding to explode . It had plenty of go due to the fact it had a jdm 18rg with a w58 behind it, but it had no low end grunt at all you would have to spin the motor out to get any kind of real power out of It and due to it basically having itbs it made for very loud and annoying road trips. Here's some pics of the original setup.

Well I got tired of the engine, I mean it's a very very cool motor but hell you have two people in the truck and you can really feel it lol. So me being ADHD and not being able to leave anything alone, this happened.

    And it's replacement was this

So now the Hilux has a 92 b230ft with a nice m47 behind it, the oil pan required a bit of fabrication to make it clear the steering links and also us being swedes this is all done on a super tight budget, meaning we are basically only using what we have, on that note don't judge the ls1 motor mounts haha

So as of right now those are the only pics I have, the drive line is done basically all that needs to be finished is engine assembly and wiring which is the easy part, I'll try and get some more updates later tonight as I am just on a lunch break right now!

    Here's some pictars :)

Okay well the truck does run. Just need to button some stuff up. It's 3 inch turbo back to a 3.5 inch side exit in front of the rear wheels. Soooooo the son of a bitch is really really loud.

The engine is long gone. I had 2 complete 18rgs I dumped. This truck makes about 170whp at stock boost 7-8psi. It's a very solid platform to build off. With a cam upgrade and raised boost I expect to have it in the 220-230whp range. I need to start looking for a ring and pinion or a entire new rear center section. The gear ratios are killing this thing!

Got some tuning done on the fuel side today, got the boost up to a 16psi spike and settling at 14psi. I have no traction at all through 3rd gear. Is there anything in the way of a true 4 link you guys have done on the trucks? Would like to keep it at stock height due to the fact this truck is used to haul stuff almost every day

Everything is custom fab. You can do a reverse 4 link but im not sure how well it will do on a hard launch.

Did about a 30 mile off road excursion in the truck this morning. Man its fun to rip up fire roads in this thing. I decided to stay with the stock straight axle for the time being and build a true coil over shock setup for the rear and get rid of the leaf springs. I'm getting way to much wheel hop in the back. Turned the boost down just a tad due the fact the car still has no oil cooler on it and the stock bypass valve diaphragm is starting to show its weakness. Also need to do something about a limited slip in the rear, this one tire fire deal just isn't cutting it at the moment. Tires immediately go up in smoke during cornering :/

So ive put around 7500 on the swap and so far it continues to impress me, had the car dynoed at 12 psi, running a slightly more aggressive factory cam, it cranked out 209whp and 260ftlbs. This was on a non turbo distributor running full advance at wot, i have since modified a turbo distributor, running it at 18 degrees base idle and its pulling down to around 20 degrees advance at full throttle/boost. I did crank up the boost to 17psi and installed a wideband, my afrs are sitting right at 11:1 which is right where i like them, could lean it out a tad but im happy with this for now, i have a high flow head and a really nasty cam i will be throwing on very soon. If i can get the car to around 250whp and 300+ftlbs ill be happy

Went and did a road rally this past weekend and picked up some authentic Saleen are 16x8 wheels for the truck. the truck needs a little help in the suspension and body roll department, im going to be removing the coilovers in the back, the rear end is just to damn stiff for this car. i will throw in some stock shocks, maybe do something about springs in the front but the front end with this engine setup is so well balanced. the car feels so good in the corners other then the ass en bouncing around. i have a good picture of the truck now in its beer soaked glory.

whelp i smashed a deer with the picku and absolutely destroyed the front end. So i was unable to find a suitable doner.... so i found 2 76 toyota trucks up 5 hours north of me, so in my crazy brain i thought hey its fine ill just graft a 76 front end onto the front of my truck...... and the results are below......

then i decided i needed more power, so now i have a stock distributor from a non turbo volvo with mechanical fuel injection, being triggered by a msd 6al2 digital box. it has a 7k rpm rev limit and i have 2 step launch control set at 4k. after this i figured out that i need a new trans, i have no idea what the stock rear gearing is, but i do know this, it sucks with a stock volvo 5 speed. the factory volvo 5speed has a 4.20 first gear and a .82 5th. so cruising on the freeway, you are doing 3k at 65mph. That is not fun, i did however drive the truck on a 1600 mile road trip like that and managed to pinch off 20mpg.

so exit the volvo 5 speed and enter the t5 world class with a 2.95 first and a .68 5th! :) i also had my buddy whip up a custom billet steel flywheel that weights in at 17lbs, it uses a custom 22re pressure plate and a 9inch kevlar full face disk. the setup is rated at 460ftlbs. which should be ample for the twin scroll mitsubishi evo 8 turbo, full equal length twin scroll header and custom intake manifold going on the truck!
