I'm restoring my dad's old 1973 Hilux that he restored in the 1990s. We're in Ohio, and parts were hard to find then and now. When dad restored the truck, he put the 1975-1978 front end on it because those parts were all he could find. One of the last parts I need is a proper 1973-1974 front bumper. I'm going on nearly five years of parts searching and have not been able to buy one yet. If anyone has one they'd be able to part with and ship, or point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Any luck on ebay? Theres some popping up for sale here and there im not sure if theyr'e for the early or later front end but its worth checking

 

Not at all. I was able to find a single bracket the other day that a snagged but thats it. I have a wrecked 1973 I bought for parts that has one good bracket on it so I've got the set now. The earlier bumpers will have a bolt on the tops.

 

This guy has more front bumpers. Could be as low as 200 depending on how much shipping comes to. Will be a 3 month wait if you choice the cheapest shipping option. You'll be impressed by how he does business.

I think most of his parts are for later models but the bumper will just take making an adapter plate if it doesn't bolt up. I have one being shipped from him so I'll know sooner or later.

 

I have a set of earlier brackets and a couple of later bumpers. It wouldn't be hard to put new holes in the bumper to fit, but I've got so much to do to that truck Id rather not add anything.

 

If they are straight I would be putting one on. I jumped on the bumper because the only new old stock bumper I ever saw was 600 bucks. There is a bent one on ebay for 400. Crazy dumb prices for such an inexpensive truck.

 

That's the wrong bumper anyway.
