hey guys new to the forum. i just picked up a 1971 hilux and cant wait to get started on it. its a little rusty, but the frame and the box are solid and the 8r starts right up. Hopefully i can get her safetied for summer and not lose too much time as my main focus is getting my 510 fixed up and to use the stock hilux as a daily. Plans are to: repair floor pans (theyre gone) repair rockers check brakes clean engine bay new windshield new door seals maybe rebuild tranny maybe replace carb somewhat short list but hopefully i can find time between classes to finish pics to come

ooh good eye, thats one of my dads, we have a small collection of toyotas here. hes currently swapping 1hdt engines into his 55 and into a 75 (hdj55 & hdj75???). other than that he has a bj42 for offroading on 40" tires a couple hdj81s for dd and couple 60 series... ill be getting his hj61 soon hopefully
Hello, I've been working to get my truck back on the road and I've just finished fixing all the rust. Currently swapping in an 18r with a 5 speed and will have to make a trans xmember soon, but I need to start getting some parts for suspension as well as a windshield. Questions: -Where can I find a windshield! Nothing in canada rn -I need suspension and brakes, is rock auto the best bet and what years are compatible for parts I need rear drums, rear shoes, center link, inner & outer tie rod, tie rod end sleeves, hand brake cable, shock bushings, sway bar link bushings and lower ball joint boots I'm not sure but I thought 71 suspension and steering was the same up to 1974 where they widened the frame Hopefully can get my truck driving and safetied soon. Need to look for actual suppliers of glass to find a windshield. In the states we have windshieldstogo.com that I've read of people using on this site. But it dosnt look like they have any locations in or ship to Canada.
A lot of the components up to 78 should work. Same chassis. It did get widened up front for the engine so the swaybar is wider, the drag link may also be wider but im not sure.
Thabks for the info, yeah I think after 74 they widened the frame for the 20r, do u have any idea where to find a windshield?
