Ive had this truck for a couple years now. just started working on it this winter it gets worked on as time and money are available... i could share my plans, but probably more fun if you just wait and see.
when i picked it up, rust doesn't look bad... but it was just a good cover up![IMG]

Thanks! I wanted to build a Toyota mini truck since we built my buddies 1990 Mazda b2200 a couple years ago. when i saw the Hilux i knew it was the perfect truck for me, i had never seen another one before and i havent seen one since! codyX36 told me to post a while ago via instagram. as you can see ive been lurking for a while so i figured it was time to start a thread.

here is a the 2200 we built

    and back to the hilux...

On the way home, i picked it up from a small town about 2 hours away
    [IMG]
here it is a few days before i started on it, just gave it a quick wash.
here is the rust i was talking about being a good cover up
    [IMG]
Good thing i was just going to cut those big dangly rockers off anyways! Here it is rockers cut, fenders cut floor still needing to be cut, cameo from my welder
    [IMG]
Floor cut, just enough to have cab on ground, obviously i will need to raise the floor
    [IMG]
4 link tacked in, cab on frame... pretty much as it sits right now
    [IMG]
And the motor i picked up for it...

Size was a huge factor as I only have 22.5" ground to hood when truck is layed out. I have had a couple mk1 and mk2 mr2's and would have liked to use a 3sgte but the lack of rwd transmissions for it and size of it made it just a bit too big for what I needed. The 4age was the right size, the right price, right location and it doesn't hurt that I already have experience with 4age's.

Good points, you will have plenty of space in the engine compartment, I don't think you'll have any issue with moving mass cause rn12s are very light.

I have a 71 with 22re that goes along well, however I just kinda wished it had more high-end grunt.
I'll be looking forward to your build thread. :)

I don't know what exactly I'm doing for the front yet, gunna have to figure it out as I go haha.
I made a custom rear frame that dropped 4" to avoid having to raise a large portion of the box floor to match the body drop. I'll take pictures next time the box is off. Here is the box sitting on rear frame, need to make mounts for the front still.

I am planning to use a small keg for my fuel tank, I am not sure which style I'm gunna go with... Opinions?

I can't use one for air, as much as i would like to. The kegs have a max pressure rating of 60 psi :(

Use the small one, it fit below the bed rails, one isn't much fuel though, I would use two of them.

Here is a better picture of fitment on rear, fitment is very tight, will need to flare box sides about 1/4"

Don't flare it, that'll be too obvious. Cut the truck in half lengthwise and add the extra down the middle.
