My guess, something heavy in the bed that wasnt strapped down like how others told him too and it bounced around and smashed the gate while driving or parking. Close?

I'm still puzzled, you were haul 14' long lumber in a 6' bed. That means you had 8' of lumber sticking out. This is almost 3 stooges funny. Glad your OK. If I understood correctly you did not hit the garage door, but if I can help with anything let me know.
This story may help make you feel better. One of my normal customers was coming back from fishing at the lake. Hes backing in downstairs toward his boat door. Leaves the door closed b/c he was going to clean the boat before pulling it in. As hes backing up total aware of where the ass end of the boat is,.... he starts to feel hesitation. So he looks in the rear view, to see the middle of the door bowed inward. Although he knew where the boat was, he did not considered the outboard motor sticking back another 2'. Damaged 3 out of 4 sections of his garage door that I installed 7mths earlier so he could park the boat in the basement.:doah:

That blows! Similar things like that has happened to me before... like this one crown vic at work, i was parking it out front and i sort of knew where to stop the car because of how long the hood is, wtvr... didn't realize the bumper stuck out about another foot, lol... didn't break anything but i did "THUMP" it in the brick wall... man i shat my pants....
