Does anyone know if the 1 ton springs used on campers fit the mounts on a 2wd/SB? I am looking to do light towing, and am considering the swap. I know where the leaf springs can be had, so that is not an issue.

i have 1 ton springs on the rear of my 78. i didnt put them on but it doesnt look like anybody did any fabrication to mount them. on my little short bed it is an extremely rough ride unless i have some serious weight in the bed tho. if you are going to be riding around empty most of the time i would consider air bags or helper springs or some other alternative

Fair point, I may go that route.

if you dont mind me asking, what are you going to be pulling with that little guy that you feel you may need to beef up the suspension?

Brakes are the main issue towing/hauling. Those solid front disks and tiny rear drums fade fast when you're hauling or towing a heavy load. Use a lot of engine braking in the hills

Brakes are on my list, but hills are not an issue. I live at the very top of the second highest peak in Florida, a lofty 38 feet above sea level.

Should bolt up as far as I know all 2wd springs are the same width and the same length eye to eye the 1 tons just have more leaves. Maybe a more knowledgeable member will weigh in on this.

i use simple air adjustable shocks in the rear for heavy loads. air them up to level the load, take air out when done. no harsh ride either.
