My truck has the original slider window in the rear and im wanting to know if it can be switched out to a 1 piece? I noticed some trucks come stock with them and that they have similiar body styles, so are they interchangable? in other words can I just tell the glass company to put in a window from a 92 instead of 89 and it fits? Thanks guys
ya you can do it. i did it on mine but i think that the extra cabs have a different back window than the standard cabs. its real easy to do. you just need a flat head screw driver to pry the gasket from the inside and a buddy to hold the outside then a piece of string to run through the inside of the new weather stripping. they have a thing in the haynes manual on how to do it. hope this helps
I have the same truck as you. 89 standard 2wd. so it should be the same deal. is it the same year window with just a different option?
oh ****. i dont know wat im thinking i thought you had the extra cab. lol. but ya we have a place in st. louis called als foreign salvage and i just wen up to the counter and asked if they had a solid back window for an 89 standard cab. it was like 50 bucks, ive seen them on car-part.com from anywhere from 50 to 125. its a really good site if you cant find anyparts in the local pick and pull.
Make sure the glass you get is from a standard cab. I bought a back window for my ex cab from a standard cab. Way wrong window. They are different.
heres how mine turned out its weird cuz i never really used my sliders before and now that i have a one piece and cant open my back window i always want too. lol
Looks good. Im wanting to go with a 1 piece so I can have a big sticker cover the entire window to advertise for MyJZswap.com Which reminds me, Is anyone able to contact the administrator to this site? I PM'd him and got no response
