how come? its an 81 22r...just put in a new water pump, voltage regulator, alternator, battery and oil. my carb is in really bad shape, and the starter is the original..

 

also, my fusable links are really quite eroded, could these cause issues?

 

well have you tested the basics, fuel and spark? check if you have spark, if you have that spray some started fluid in teh carb, if it starts you found your problem. if you dont have spark come back on and we'll tell ya step 2

well might as well just spray some fluid in there lol, if it has spark it'll start and if it dont, youve still found your problem

 

You can remove the plug and turn the motor over(carefully). If it sparks then your in good shape there but I would get a cap, rotor, plugs and wires(costs less than 75$ for all).

 

Check compression.
