I'm a newbie to this forum and have been lurking (researching) for a month or so. I purchased a 78 Toyota (Mileage 140K)last year and finally decided to work on it. This is what I have done to it in the last month. A Weber carb, torker cam from a guy in Portland who knows Toyota engines inside and out. Hedmann header with new exhaust and a 07 Scion muffler. 79 Celica 5sp transmission, which was easier than expected. I just purchased some 04 (40th Anniv) 16" Mustang rims and am currently trying to figure out how wide a tire I can go with w/o and rubbing issues. I will try and figure out how to post some pics of what it looks like. Canary yellow w/a white canopy.
To do stuff New valance, Tires and a new seating arrangement. I'd like to get some buckets that would fit me. I'm 6'-4" and that Jeep bench seat sucks. A 7Mgte swap would be nice if I could find some information on what's excatly involved. Any suggestions on the above to do list would be helpful.
look nice, is the rust on the floor, cuz it look like it might under the carpet. there a few 7M guys on here, just have to find them when there not sleeping.lol
I have an extra valence I may part with. I also have a set of mid-80's Celica/Supra buckets I used for a short while. They sat really low in the truck. I also have a spare painted front bumper, as well. Looks like you might need a bit of brake fluid there! LOL
Bomber No rust on the floor I put a carpet over the immaculate tan vinyl stocl mat'l. It's just dirt. I would like to look at the seats and the valance.
Thanks for the great comments. The neighbor bought this truck new in 78 when they lived in Cali. He gave it to his son who pulled the head off and couldn't figure out how to put it back on. I was talking to the father one day and said he was taking it to the junk yard. Well, He sold it to me for $250, I had the head shaved, threw it on and drove it to my driveway. He was floored when he found out that was all that needed to be done to get it running. It now has a new radiator, water pump and coil.
Yeah the canopy is lame, but winter time up here is wet 9 months of the year and it keeps the weapons dry during transportation. I was reading the blog on reversing.
Very nice truck. Yea, my valance looks almost as bad as yours i saw they have a plastic (?) aftermarket one online but idk...
