So i was wondering.. i have 3in blocks on the back of my 93 and 2in spindles on the front. I still wanna drop the back another inch or two and was wondering what another means of droppinf the back is without going to 4 in blocks? If i remove a leaf from the pack what one and how much will it drop it? thx guys
you could always buy drop leafs and not have to worry about spring failure, removing leafs may never cause a problem, but in the event it did it would really suck.
My truck had 4 leafs on it when I did my ( blockdrop ) I used 3" blocks, took the bottom two leafs out andinstalled a new center pin, lemme tell u itll drop it, the ride isnt great, but its low. Remember the lower you drop your gonna start to have some clearance issues to watch for ( axle hittN frame/bumpstops, might have to do mild c notch ( NOT full notch ) - rear brake load sensor will need to be adjusted otherwise itll lock them brak a lil faster than the front, you could T it, But its a lil tricky - watch how your exhaust hangs, ya might crimp into it ! A lil atta time is better, best thing to do is test fit test, test fit, test fit and plan for modification time even if u assume u arent going to have to do any. Goodluck man. . .
How do you know if it's a drop leaf that's been put in or if leafs have been removed. I bought my truck like this and the ride in the back isn't very good to say the least. Well when I have weight in it, it's not.
To be honest, sound like every Toyota truck Ive owned and a few other trucks as well! They all seem to ride better with a little weigh in them, thats what they were designed to do " haul stuff " although some select few of us dont now. Also, Ive noticed a huge improvement in ride quality by checking the tire pressure and keeping it slightly lower, another trick is to install a softer shock but mind you this will in some cases make it bouncy. A stiff shock does the opposite, but can make it ride rough to, there never seems to be a happy medium. After I went to full air ride, my worries are gone, Ive found that soft spot and it rides 10 fold as compared to the static drop. . .
Okie so mine has 3 leafs in the pack. Which one should i remove the overload. or the center one? Or does it matter?
I did the bottom two, the first one from bottom was the smaller one and the second one alittle larger, they both were extricated as well as half the bumpstops back when I did it. . .
im not how much space i should have between my tire and my wheelwell fender line... i got like 2-3 inches in between for my stock truck.. looks like my DLX ExtraCAb is saggin
I dropped mine this weekend. I had 3 leaf packs on my truck and I pulled the middle leaf, leaving the overload. I notched the frame and installed 3 inch blocks. This puts the fender lip at the edge of a 16" rim. I also have 3" control arms up front and lowered the torsion bars a little. I'm going to drop the front more when I get 4x4 fenders so I can turn without destroying the fenders. I'll grab pics later.
On my 88 when it was static dropped, had 2" dropped springs & 2" blocks @ rear ( will have to notch),& 2" dropped spindles @ front, riding on 18" rims/225x40 tires. Drove & rode very good!
hey i've got a 91 pickup that i did the front control arms which put me at 2.5-2.75in with a little torsion bar adjust ment and i put 4in blocks in tha rear. after i did that it set the axle again the bumpstops on the bottom of the bed the ride is good but i looks good and handles fine i like tha drop block myself
