I've noticed that here recently my transmission has been making some awful noise 1st through 4th, but like today i can shift into 2nd and 3rd and even 4th without using the clutch. any ideas? bad transmission?

I mean my trans is quiet as can be, and at the right rpms I can clutchless shift mine through all the gears. When sitting at idle does the noise go away when you press in the clutch? Could be a throwout bearing

Throwout bearing my friend, Cheap fix, but does involve removing the trans... Im my opionion while its down I would throw a new clutch in it too, A clutch kit should include a new bearing and solve all your probs

Damn, don't be that cheap, Get a used trans or rebuild the one you got. Prolly easier to get a used one.

Im pretty sure any W series trans would swap in. Go look for a W58

if you go with the w58 you are prob going to have to mod the x member and the sifter hole might be in the wrong spot

No need to look for another tranny....

A new throwout bearing should take care of the noise issue and as mentioned it's a good time to change the clutch too...

A new shifter bushing and coupler will take care of the 5th gear popping out issue... It's a dealer item or you can order a heavy duty unit from marlin crawler... This should fix any shifter slop aswell and takes about 20mins to do...
