well, my truck started smoking some, not all the time but if I rev it up in the garage, it blows white smoke I believe...but smoke none the less...but not all the time ?!..idk hard to explain...anyways, I noticed today when I was adding some oil while the motor was running, I went to pour it in and it blew it all out as I was pouring... maybe I didnt put my rings on right causing blow by ? or could it be valve seals ? thats pretty much the only thing I didnt replace on the engine... what should I do ? I have a crappy compression tester Ill see if anything stands out tomorrow... other then that she runs and drives awesomeeee.

I gots no truck, for now
how many miles are on the motor? i would expect a lot of blowby on a new setup for the first 1-3K miles. what did you replace?

everything, the motor has probably less than 15 miles on it... only thing not replaced, machined,or touched in any way was the head.

I guess Ill pull my head off tomorrow.. errrr not tomororw Im dropping my brother off at his friends house in georgia, then driving home only to pick him up this weekend... wtf.. anyways lol... I guess Ill pull my head, and do a small port n polish, and clean the valves and such. I already have the seals... should I just do it with the head on still or take it off ? also would you re-use a headgasket with like 15 miles on it ???

valve stem seals don't see pressure though. if anything, they see vacuum and are there to keep oil from getting sucked in. blow by is rings.

BTW why were you adding oil to the engine at 15 miles? having to do so is the first red flag for me.

White smoke is coolant. grey or blue is oil. could be light grey I spose *shrug*

    22re or V6?
    V6 I have no idea
22RE: should be able to do the seals with the head on. I did my old cressidas seals like that and looking at pics of the 22re, it should be pretty easy. 3/8" braided nylon rope works wonders to hold valves up. stick about 5' in while the pistons at BDC, then turn the crank to bring it up.

Wait before you pull the head make sure and do a thorough compression test. When adding oil to the motor while running it can and will blow the oil back at you since there is positive crankcase pressure. My motor does it as well along with any motor. Trust me drive around with the oil cap off and the hood closed and see what kind of mess you create. Not only are you causing a big vaccum leak but the pcv valve is supposed to regulate that and it is deemed useless when you remove the oil cap as the pressure will go in the direction of least resistance. Do not reuse the head gasket if you do pull the head.

X2 white is coolant grey or blue is oil and yes you should be getting a little blow by until the rings are set but only a little.
