I know it probably won't be as good, but the History Channel is debuting their version of the Top Gear franchise this Sunday at 10 pm. Check it out.
I watch top gear alll the time. Usually onna channel on justin.tv Guna be very hard for us version to live up to this amaerican hating man.
Nope, cause they have different hosts. One of hosts for ours is Tanner Foust. I love watching Foust drift some the top supercars in the world on Battle of the Supercars.
The only thing I'm worried about is the chemistry. Hammond, Clarkson, and Captain Slow have it. I'm concerned that they try to duplicate theirs and it fail miserably. I hope not though...
all we can do is tune in tonight with our fingers crossed, i have high hopes for it but i doubt it will even come close to the original just because it will be designed for the american viewer
its a winner in my books fellas, they kept alot more then i expected plus i think all the host work great together, i know i will keep watching it
In between watching Sportscenter, I saw a bit of Tanner Foust driving a Viper and trying to sound like Jeremy Clarkson, which didn't really work for me. I guess if there's nothing else on I would watch it.
I just watched it as well. It seems as though they're catering to people who have NEVER seen Top Gear BBC. I think the hosts need more time to loosen up and be able to play off each other and have quick witty exchanges like the BBC guys do. Clarkson, Hammond , and May seem like they're friends outside of the show, and bring that kind of friendly smartassness on screen. It feels more relaxed, more comfortable. I was completely disappointed by the lack of "Some say..." intro for the Stig........
well what really annoyed me is that the other two guys cant drive. like the whole time they where doing the drifting competition they were just bickering about how they sucked. come on if your going to do a car show like this, get some hosts that know how to maneuver a car.
Yeah, I sat down to watch it with my five year old the next day. We watch the original all the time, he loves cars. I counted at least 9 or ten Bleeps and five "F" bombs in the one Lambo top speed from one idiot in one sequence. No car shifts good or bad enough to make me drop the F bomb... I'm going to write to History Channel and let 'em have it (and I don't do that.) In my opinion, it really needs improvement everywhere. I know I'm comparing it to "perfection" on the other show, but seriously, they really did suck. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they pulled it all together.
I'm watching an episode right now, they took 3 old trucks (a Chevy, Ford and Dodge) through trails in Alaska. And guess what is following them to lend a helping hand in case they need it.........thats right, A TOYOTA!!! A 92-95 4wd ext cab with alot of aftermarket goodies!
I have noticed that they have gotten a little better. I laughed when the NY'er guy launched the Caddy over the dirtbike jump and folded it in half. Still needs work though, I'm disappointed that they keep doing BBC bits, come up with something original.
That Toyota was frigging killer! (it's funny how the import did basically the same challenge, and held up way better that the rest, lol) The best part was that the Toyota had no issues through any of it, the camera just showed it taunting the other trucks. To me that just said "I'm better that all you guys, and I know it", lol. Can you image the producers sitting around talking about doing it, and saying "well, we need a truck that will make it no matter what on the show, so we better include an import, but we'll play it off like it's a bad thing".
