just scored a spare tranny....only numbers i can find are w8616...does this sound familiar?? lookin to replace my my l43..and not sure what i have... thanks in advance for any info

Post some pics of it.... Other than the option plate on the body i don't recall knowing based on numbers on the tranny itself... Or if you know what year/model it came from, that will help too...

I don't think that is either a W50 or 55

Looking at the gear shifter, it looks longer than a small truck. More so for a large truck, even a box truck

 

That looks a lot like the L43 4 speed I have in my 78 pickup...

 

+1 on and "L" series trans... For sure not a "W" at all...

We call that back home the "sideloader"!
