I'm excited, I have to tell someone. I've decided on a system for my truck. I already have Alpine's IVA-W200 head unit and their Type-S components. I'm goin to add another set of Type-S components, both will be running off Alpine's V-Power MRP-F600 (100x4) 4 channel amp. Two V-Power MRP-M1000 (1000x1) mono amp running 8 Type-S 10's. All of the subs and amps will be in the bed. Should be one of the loudest systems in my area.
why run 8 10's ?? some loud ass speakers are audiopipes and solobarics.. those QUAKE! dont get me wrong, that will sound bad ass and look cool as well... Id just go with 2 12's
I've heard 2 kicker cvx 10's pound hard enough to make your ears ring. I've just got one 12 in my car and it's plenty for me.
one kicker soloX 18 inch would be enough for ya 10000watt peak 5000 watt rms and a Warhorse amp 10000.1 amp GG ... if thats not enough u can always add more
What alot of people don't realize is, you put the subs in the right enclosure it can be plenty loud. Plus, with 8 10's, I will have more cone area the 2 12's or 1 soloX 18, even 4 15's. The more cone area you have, the more air you can move.
Its just amazing what you can do with the right speakers/subs, lots of choices and every system is different. Most build for budget, some build for bling, some build for competition and the rest of us secure a system that rocks our worlds and are/am dang proud of what weve done. No matter what I think of it this way, most of our trucks came with paper coned 4" POS, so any improvement is sure to make a BIG difference, goodluck with the system, when u get it done lemme know, Ill cruise over . . .
8 10's should be lovlely lol. Mount like 4 of them in a down fire enclosure for a little extra poundage.
That will make your ears ring to say the least. My last decent system had 8 12's and the entire thing got ripped off when I was at Sema. So I said screw it...lol I stopped doing big systems and just stuck to building the truck itself. I always had bad luck keeping a nice system once I had it done. I guess there are people out there that needed it more than me
I just finished these enclosures for a friend. He's running 8 cvr 10's and a soundstream tarantula amp. Not the drivers I recommended, but they will still be louder than I'll ever want. I personally run a single 10" handbuilt sub made by a guy here locally. With the Fusion Jonah Lomu series monoblock amp, I've SPL'ed a 142db run. Not bad for a 10"er.
That box is sweet! Nice job. Mine will look similar. What kinda power does the tarantula put out? Very impressive for a single 10! What power are you runnin? The best I've done with a single 10 is 133.3 db, but that was in a '96 Explorer and only runnin 250 watts. I'm basicly doin this for two reasons. 1) To piss off alot of people in my area, to prove to them you don't need to buy top-of-the-line stuff to be the loudest. And 2) I've always wanted to.
My Jonah Lomu monoblock ran about 1100 watts @ 4ohms when we rebuilt the power supplies and phets. Really surprised me. I'm kinda the other way with my personal stuff, I buy the GOOD stuff, do a lot of research and spend time in the design so that the final outcome is a smaller system that is louder than the big ones. I can't blame you for wanting to build big though. I did too. Didn't take to long before I regretted it though, a lot of money tied up in used electronics.... Have fun! If you have any questions, just ask.
sweet enclosure! reminds me of the episode on myth busters with their deisel powered monster subwoofer!
I do understand "the good stuff" thing. I'm goin to spend alot of time & money into the wiring, electrical, & designing the box. Btw, my girlfriend has decided she wants a SQ system in her brand new Focus. She got a quote from one of the local shops. Using an Eclipse deck and the rest JL Audio, the quote was like $5,200 before installation!
