My 1992 Yota ext cab build

Hey, im outcastpunk's youngest son with the ext cab yota.
I got a hold of a 1992 toyota pickup extended cab for about 3 weeks with the usual oil mixing with water problem. we had been driving it to try to figure out how the water was leaking because at first the oil was oil colored and not milkshake for about a day. we put about 100 miles until it acually started mixing.
well me and my dad took the engine apart. we found out once we go it apart that the guides had broke and the timing chain had been slapping the timing chain cover and wore a very small hole in it.

still working on it. now to wait for the parts i've ordered. got it apart in about half a day. woke up the next morning and headed out to start cleaning the parts we've removed. :) thanx to engnbldr for my water pump, oil pump, gaskets, timing chain and cover, and my head gasket, ect.... ordered most of the parts from him for a comparatively really good deal. did a b/j flip and just got my sway bar stabilizers today. getting my head cleaned and may have it back, clean, possibly by wednesday or thursday. hope to have the engine completely finished by the end of the week, if not, i have 2 years till i get my liscense sooo i got time. :D will post more when i can.

if its backwards, its been backwards for 168xxx miles.haha i pulled on it to see it it would slide off.well both the oil pump gear and the bottom pulley slid right out.i dint take them off the shaft,i stopped right were there at in the pic.right before the keyway on the end of the crank.i wanted to get the new ones before i took them off the crank.but now that you have mentioned it i will be sure to get the new one on in the right direction ;)

alrighty... got it all back together friday. it was a long week to wait but it paid off. here's down to the block.
got the timing chain, guides, tensioner, and cover all on.
add the head, cam, and rocker arms and we're in buisness.
the steering arms and the oil pan painted according to my heritage, chevy orange.:D:lol:
the air conditioner, power steering, and cruise.
the head and the intake, each of which i stripped to the bare aluminum, the fan, shroud, and radiator. flushed the radiator a bunch before we put it back in.
put a new oil filter and new oil too.
dad drove it a good 20-30 miles just to clean things out. then we dumped the oil and water again. another new oil filter and oil. should be good for a long while. got it home again and decided to go with wide white all tires. my tires have the white wall facing the inside but that'll change here in a few weeks. dad wanted to see how far we could go with one before we did all of them. so we took the back two off and the hub too. then we flipped the tires backward. (if i could, i'd leave it like that but that won't work. haha. they stick out a good inch and a half) dropped one side to the ground and got to grindin on the other.
    the overall change...
i bought some 3" drop blocks and plan on goin with a mono-leaf and messin with my torsion bars so i hope to have a 4" drop all around. i plan on havin wide white white walls all around, hope to go down to the bare metal and just clear coat it. i want to get a grill and front bumper in black. black out my lights. tint the glass. maybe get a small hood scoop and offset it. eventually i will bag it. but some of this is way down the road when it comes to things to do. i took the bed liner out and it now sits with the back end up in the air and the front end angling down. the b/j flip brought the front down bout an inch and takin the liner out raised the back up bout an inch and so she sits in the driveway today. im happy just to have it back together:)

Don't think clearing bare metal will stay very well. We were talkin about it in a thread somewhere on here. But trucks looking good man

Truck is looking great man. You can leave those wheels backwords if you want but if you want them to tuck you are going to have to cut the center out then re-weld them in some. Love the white walls.

Did that engnblder kit come with metal timing chain guides? if not that may be something you should look into for reliability.

Actually it did come with metal guides. thanx anyways
we took a wire brush on a drill to clean the pistons. im pretty sure dad put the gear on like it was before. ;) by the way, why wouldn't the bare metal be good? even with a clear coat over top? i don't see why it would be bad. gonna ask my uncle who's a body man but I'll think about your guy's thoughts too. thanx for all the input. it should help with any other ideas i might have. :)

you did a great job tyler :) you learned alot.

you forgot to mention that we changed the fuel filter.im guessing that you would have to take off the starter to get to that thing!! or take the intake off haha anyways it done.

the little truck runs surprisingly well. you sure would think it has that many miles on it.

we should be getting my tire machine back(a friend borrowed it)this weekend.so we should get the tires done and get the blocks on within the next two weeks.we need to take the bed off and fix the frame also.right by the gas tank the frame needs patched.so we will do the blocks when we do the frame.

okay, dad and i got the bed off yesterday and did a little work. the frame was rusted beside the gas tank so we decided to plate it and paint it. and i've never understood how the frame could rust in just one place and not rust anywhere else.:confused:

took a little bending and cutting to make the steel conform to the frame but we got it on.

then on to the 3" drop blocks i bought. plus we also took the center leaf out of the leaf pack.

next dad got his tire machine back so we flipped my tires around and got the white walls facing out. :D sorry for the pics, it was at night. they just don't do the truck justice

from a certain angle it looks like its dragging the ground in the back. over thanksgiving weekend i am going to drop the front to match the back, finish widening the rest of the white walls, paint the area we plated with undercoating, and get the bed back on it. as far as i know that's all that i can do for now. i will eventually order the notch kit and maybe have it soon enough that i can put it on before i put the bed back on. just have to see what happens.
