Hi everyone, I have a 1978 Hilux. I bought it about 3 years ago and have never had any problems, that is until this year. California has tightened the smog requirements and now my wonderful daily driver work horse is not passing. I took it to my mechanic and basically he told me that I need a new carb. Even with a new carb there is no guaranty that it will pass. I am kind of at a loss as what to do. I am open to any advice. Thanks!

Oh my Gawd that's a clean Hilux! Dude kudos on the color, that's one of my favorites! Quick suggestion, I don't know if you ever plan on lowering it but if you do you should get some of the new Enkie 92 mesh wheel re-prints set to come out next year, would look so slick!

On another note I would suggest maybe just having your carb rebuilt, one at a time removing sensors, clean them and replace with fresh vaccum lines, my guess is that the system is just dirty and not performing as well as it could.

Oh and... were defo going to need more pictures of that beauty!

Thanks guys, I will get some more pics up as soon as it stops raining here. I'm going to pay the registration and try to mess with it for a bit.
