Here's the deal. I've got an 85 22r 4 speed. I see alot of talk on 5 speed swaps and everyone says it depends on the current 4 speed as to how easy it is. No prob... How do I determine what trans I have? Is there a code or stamp on the trans? There are no catylist stickers left on it or door stickers with body and trim codes...I want to put in a 5 speed just need to know what I gotta do.

well...i had another 86 back in 04 and we just pulled a tranny from an 87 and it worked perfect..we did cut out our shifter spot and changed the gears in the rear end...other than that...im pretty sure any 87 88 or so will work on the 85 or 86 22r...but if u want to be 100% sure u can call your nearest Yota dealership or call LC theyll get to u faster than we all can.

I gots no truck, for now
ya yours should be the easy just swap it out and trim the shifter hole if needed. its the older ones like mine and the next body style up where things get a little tricky with the 4 to 5 speed swap.

Anyone happen to know the stock gear ratio off hand in the rear end of the 4 spd trucks?
