So, I got rearended on 9-04-10. Damage from this crash includes the bumper brackets, the driver's side lower bed side (behind the wheel well), and the stock "roll pan". I just got off the phone with that guy's insurance company, and the representative is telling me that due to the age of the truck, and the fact that parts are no longer made for it (which they are), that it'll probably be totaled. AWESOME! This means that they'll give me actual cash value of the truck. Which is determined by finding "market value" near me, and then adjusting for the condition MY truck is in, verses the ones they locate. They do this so I can "replace" my truck with a similar one. Thus far: I have been able to locate 7 trucks that fit this criteria: 84-88 toyota 2wd, manual, over 100,000 miles Prices range from $2,950 to a whopping $5,500!!! either way, It's more than I 've got in it. Bring it on! Total it! I'll buy it back, and use the extra to "repair" it! stupid insurance!
I'd love too, I actually have before and after pics. I seem to have misplaced the cable from my camera. Let the hunt continue! I just found it! PIcs soon!
I'll do my best to give a "before impact" then an "After impact" pic. Here's the corner that took the most damage, before it took it. And here's few after shots Granted, the truck was no looker to start with by any means, but I think you can see the extent of the damage. Here's a couple shots of the bumper brackets and frame rails The insurance asked me " My client says you were stopped at a light, and he was stopped behind you. He eased off the brake, and car lurched forward and contacted the back of your car. Is this correct?" Too which I replied "I was driving, I wasn't looking behind me, but I heard tires screech before he hit me. I really don't think tires screech if your already stopped and ease off the brakes, do they?"
They gave me $4200 for my 95, v6, auto, ex cab in fair condition. Shoulda bought it back and fixed it, but didn't wanna mess with it. Wanted something new to me...
Also... they take into consideration the condition of your truck prior to the wreck. So they will take off BIG TIME for the rust and such man... They took off a bunch for my truck having primer spots and slight body damage. Sorry to be the party pooper but you probably wont get as much as you think... Especially with it being as old as it is. They give you fair market value, not replacement value. I just went through all of those 2 months ago. I even tried fighting and arguing the value of my truck with the prices of trucks for sale around and they wouldn't give me more than $4200....
My buddy got rearended in his c10 they told him to find the truck that's the same online in the area and print it out and they gave him tht price
well, here's the deal. truck $800 tires $300 radiator $ 130 ish cd player $20 Tach $40 So.....1290 bucks in it If it's totaled, which is looking pretty good, then I need to get enough to buy it back, and buy the parts to fix it myself. I'll be happy with that! I understand the rust and what not will kill the actual cash value. However, if they see how much they're going for in similar condition, I feel as though I can reasonably expect 1 to 2 grand as the value. Take away what a salvage yard would give( 500 bucks seems high to me) and then I'm sitting with my truck and enough to buy a cali combo, and stuff to repair the rust. Do the work myself, and call it a day!
You'll pay the insurance company the salvage price & will have to go through registering as a salvage & pay to do that! Good luck!
thats not totaled it will buff right out... lol gl with insurance hopefully it all works out i almost had a claim today... hows the saying go Women drivers no survivors...
you know you dont pay them for the truck, they deduct the price from what they give you... and I doubt you will get a salvage title for it, maybe thats another one of fairy queen land californias dumb rules.
lol that will be my quote of the day right there and look @ it this way now u can get a 4wd bed with the flared fenders
hey hey I never said I dont like you guys.. cali makes my life better and better every day, atracting all the people I dont want in florida : ) lmao. but my best friend did move to cali which sucks so thats not good yeah that bed is toast, time for something better
it IS a 4wd bed flared fenders, see pics 1 and 4. The lady said that if the cost of repairs was more than 70% of the value, it would be totaled. Getting a salvage title in Ky isn't that hard. I WILL be keeping this truck. Around here, these are hard to find, even in the shape mine's in with the rust and all. Which is another reason why I wanted to build a mini out of it.
