Help !? Tore down the carb on our 87 toy and put a rebuild kit in it. Rough idle and wanted to clear up. Now it wont supply gas to the carb pump. No squirt squirt when you feed the throttle in and out. It will run with starting fluid and squirting gas into the carb though... Looking at the pump mount in the carb base there is a feed hole for gas in the center. Could it be that the float is not set right ? The glass view port shows fuel at the lower edge of the view window marks. Maybe not filling high enough to pass fuel through this passage ? any ideas ...? thanks Dave
its not worth rebuilding a stock one, just buy a weber, it breaks the bank but pays it self off in the long run.
Update Well it runs as long as I keep the throttle open a ways and milk it a little. I see no squirt in the smaller bore of the carb when pulling the throttle. Running or not... Pulled the accelerator pump and gas did run out... Seemed ok... Pretty smoky but it's been sitting for a year now.. Tried the fuel mix initial setting ( 2.5 turns out and then tried 4 turns out ) hmmm, I hear the WEBER comment, but you know we can be stubborn cant we ? Any ideas about the lack of squirt response to the throttle pull ? This mean accy pump is not workin ? May head to recycler for carb if need to ... thanks !!
Just had a fuel issue myself and threw on a fuel filter and it was problem solved for about 6 bucks. I'd start there. My truck would just crap out in 3rd and 4th gear...due to lack of fuel. Fuel systems are simple but can throw you for a loop at the same time. Always start with easy cheap stuff first.
