well..call me crazy but wouldnt there be a problem mating a 22r side draft manifold to a 22re head? im not sure you could swap a 22r manifold on a 22re. then also you would have to get a big fuel pressure regulator that could dumb down the pressure from 33or36 psi to 5 for for the webers. Then i think you would need an ignitor and distributor from a 22r as well to make spark... i think thats all the issues i can think of.
22R/RE intake manifolds bolt up exactly the same; no issue there. You do need a 22R distributor for the mechanical advance, but there is no need to change out any of the ignition system. Bypass style regulator can get the fuel pressure down, although you may need to run a bigger return line to get it to work right. Not sure about any auto trans specific issues either though.
