Ok, so you got a K&N air filter... That duct hose that connect the AFM to your cold air pipe doesn't look to be on completely... Unplug your AFM and spray the conector with contact cleaner... Do you know how to pull the trouble codes?
oh ok and yea i kno i was just trying to understand which hose you were talkin bout bro learnin as i go sorry for the confusion
Are you talking about mine or his? IDK the codes. I'm guessing your talking about running the diagnosis on a scanner?
make sure your AFM plug is all the way in....... recheck your firing order. also, check your fuse panel and make sure none of the fuses popped like the EFI or ECU fuses..... this sounds like it is starting with no computer or sensor input. as for the crap mileage there's somethin up...... possibly failing O2, AFM is going bad or a few other issues combined. you need to pull codes. forgot the two pins you are supposed to cancel out.... ill have to check the book tomorrow. when you cancel out your advance, all you need to do is turn your ignition to the on position and watch the intervvals of the check engine light, how many times it flashes and the sequence it flashes in. this will tell you the trouble codes to go by and areas to check. im willing to bet something is blown fuse wise or AFM is not connected properly.
you need to jump the two connectors in the diagnostic box by the engine bay fuse box. TE1 and E1 are the two you jump with a paper clip.
First step, start the truck and attempt it to run, DO NOT TURN KEY!!! Leave the key in the running position. These computers loose memory when the key is shut off. Second step, jump TE1 and E1 to see if any codes have tripped. If codes are found, find out what they are and post them here. If no codes are found, Verify that all your spark plug wires are in the correct order and that they are not damaged. Check your air flow meter connector is properly seated. Third step, (not trying to sound like a smart a$$, but...) if you dont know, dont touch. And last thing, dont rush, double check your work. I know vehicle problems can get frustrating but if you let the problem get to you while trying to figure it out, you can end up making things worse than what it was. Its time to do some reading so pull up a trouble shooting chart and be patient. Go down the check list and verify the components that are working and connectors are seated correctly and that no wires are pulled from their pins/pins pulled from the connectors. Check resistance of your sensors pertaining to your issue, or stated in the trouble shooting. Good luck!
I just want to thank Alex and Allen for helping me get my problem solved. The Yota is officially back up and running after about 3 months. Where would I be without this forum? haha.... Thanks guys I appreciate it once again. YES I GET TO DRIVE MY YOTA TO SCHOOL TOMORROW!!!
Man, Alex and Allen helped you out? You should of called me up too! I want to see your Yota go lower!
haha... yea i know i wanna slam it as much as possible. i need to get rid of these nasty rims first. The $215 i just spent for a new MAF meter to get my truck running couldve went towards future plans if u know wha i mean. Rims and suspension to be exact. It will be lower someday though.
I have some 3 inch steel blocks for you on the cheap if you want them. we can install those remove the middle leaf. Then we can crank the torsion bars and a B/j flip for the front. Im sure Alex can do that for you on the cheap too.
oh yea btw it turned out to be the MAF meter. Not enough air flow since the flapper would get stuck. Therefore it sent a signal to the ecu and cause the motor to shut down. The old MAF meter has done it's time. It was time for it to retire and be replaced.
I have the 3 inch blocks right now and I've cranked the torsions as well. Ball joint flip and leaf springs not yet. I actually want some control arms for a better ride. Right now im riding on 18's but I want 17's. So much future plans for all 3 of my rides.
I replaced it with a stock one. MacRib hooked it up with the MAF and SD Yota diagnosed the problem. What's the difference with the Supra MAF?
