    Last night. 2AM.
Talking to friend with RSX Type-S about wheels and tires.
I remembered my friend with a 91 MR2 had a set of slicks and wheels from his old 1st gen MR2, wondering if my friend was interested.
In my lolligagging and being unable to find my friend's ad, I decided to search for random stuff....

    "Nissan"
    nothing
    "Toyota"
    camrys
    "350Z"
    summer specials
    "5x114.3"
    nothing
    "Lexus"
.......... well hey, chrome wheels... $100....
I don't like chrome.... but it's off an SC300.... and it comes with tires.......
    for $100....
instantly text the guy, offering $80.
got a reply during classes today, after school i headed over with the $100, 30 min drive.
talked to him, about 29years old, avid enthusiast with whatever he does, cars as well. had an old old old bonneville sitting around, thing was ginormous!
talked to him for a while, and handed over the $100 and he told me he'd get a $20 and i told him its fine, I figured that $20 can get somewhere for his kindergarten daughter's education or whatever, I figured he can use it. I don't feel like low-balling such a cool guy.
Anyway, talked to him for a while, the wheel weren't really great. the previous owner of the SC300 abused it really, threw on cheap aftermarket wheels. the wheels i got.
But anyway, loaded up my truck and headed home.
took brother home, and began to "work" on teh wheels.... i knew the chrome was already ****.
So powerwasher it is! took the wheels from the backside, blew out the edges of the chrome layer, definitely helped me peel and pull off alot of the chrome ****.
Plans for wheels as PredRacer suggested, I'll be using aircraft stripper to remove the chrome.
After that, I'll be polishing the lips of the wheel and then spraying the centers of the wheels gold or something of similar sorts.

Tires - front had major positive camber wear. as said, the PO of the SC300 took bad care of it!
but still has some meat. Hankooks 215/60/16. similar tire height as my 205/75/14
rears have ALOT of tire left. Bridgestones to be exact. BUT, it's 215/65/16
which aint bad, thats why i threw them on the rear anyway. it actually matched my truck's speedo to teh GPS, off by .5 mph or whatever really.

so for $100, i got some cheap wheels and stuff, but i'm happy.

    Dont feel bad Nam.

I think they look good on your truck. No caps?

And yes, better than any Jeep meshies.

Last night we did a test, and the 245/50R16s were accurate on the speedo (GPS compared) by like .5 also. Something to think about if you want some tire under there.

I guess I should tell you that 16inchers are hellacious expensive too. My original set of four cost me 700. But they saved my ass more than once. sticky bastards those BFGs...

Looks good, way better than stock wheels and gigantic tires. :waytogo: (Although it would look even better with some 205/40's on.) I say just sand wheels until you get a satin finish and just leave them like that.

Thanks for the positive replies guys! I've been out for a bit.
I'm trying to get around to getting most of the chrome off, the stuff is pretty tough to deal with. I'm thinking about just... 1. Sanding parts of it off, so it loosens up and i can peel it all off. 2. chisel it off lol. 3. find some chemical way.... not wanted.... 4. use some cutting wheels to cut into the chrome layer, so i can peel it away.

a motor swap would be lovely. still looking for a job, this economy isnt so friendly! if anything, a 5spd would be nice.

    Recent pics.

Here is the "shtty wheel". this one had the most corrosion. so i just pulled most of it off.
