    well it all depends what type of horsepower you are gonna want? it works both ways, turbo and carbs.

    i went from EFI on my 95 to dual mikuni carbs and am very very satified alot more horsepower i got then with stock. and also $$$ just depends on your pocket and time.

    the cam was= 200
    flywheel = 340
    clutch = 312
    head = 550
    headers = 200
    flowmaster = 90
    msd= 150
    msd coil= 40
    MIKUNIS = FREE father had it for ever
    canon intake= 299
    LCE pulley set = 150
    LCE valve components= 300

    so now you break it down on going EFI but with all the stuff of your choice in it. turbo or what ever. it really depends my fren. I got my cam for topend because i changed my rear and tranny off a celica to replace my low end. the truck is insanely fast then when it was stock. last night got my first ticket speeding with my truck and ilegal draging on the bridge with a frens honda smoked him and then got smoked by TPD:mad: it was okay but i wanted to see where my truck stands. i whooped the turbo civic in no time left him 2 car lengths and thats even mishifting:D

    get a 9lb flywheel! makes your engine have response a whole lot faster and better then you could ever know. thats a first. and while your tranny is out changing the flywheel you might as well get a clutch to.

    i think as far as effort wise..... its easier to get more power from an efi system. if you did a good set of balanced injectors, cam, big bore throttle body, a good open element intake system, headers and good exhaust on a efi......... the power response will be impressive.

    if you did a wilder cam, sidedrafts, header, exhaust system and a light weight flywheel on a 22r, i think it also be an impressive gain but the sidedrafts would not be "smog legal" per say as the efi stuff would.

    not to mention the fuel efficiency is still relatively better on the efi........ when i did the balanced injectors, cam, intake, header, and exhaust on my 22RE 4Runner, i was real happily impressed with the power and fuel milage i gained. i averaged 27mpg with 31" AT tires.... im sure if i had balanced it out with a BB throttle body, and a fuel mix calibrator, it would have been even better.
