I too have been working on a ext-cab 7MGTE swap for some time now. How did you cure the draglink to oil pan clearance issue? I cut a notch in my oil pan, but it does not seem to have enough clearance. I have seem pictures of guys cutting and adding an extension onto the draglink to clear the oil pan. Right now I'm working on adding a remote oil filter. oil thermostat and oil cooler. Then the powersteering and changing my fuel pump. Hopely I will fire it up soon.

how much did the swap cost you ? given I have the motor and 5 speed how much does it cost to do it yourself ? also what is the exact 5 speed you used, i cant find any used ones anywhere !

What i did was cold bend the pintman and idler arms in a press. Its tricky cause you dont want them to crack. I got clearance.. but barely. It also screwed my alignmemt up. Also because i lowered the center point of the center link to the outer tie rods i got a bit of bump steer. Im still smoothing out the front end things.

We have emission test here in Ottawa. Which can prove to be a issue. All we do is change the ownership to Hot Rod or Kit car and you are exempt from it. Problem solved!

what kind of horsepower can stock internals of a 7mgte handle? do they make simple ecm mods without having to go to a stand alone setup for fueling/timing issues when running more boost? i know about the notorious HG issues and was just curious what a stock block with simple bolt ons could handle. sounds like a pretty straight forward swap. id be interested if i didnt have to dig into the engine too much to get a reliable 350-400 hp.

well figure you have legal exaust and all that they should aprove you for emtions, how will they know that motor did not come with the car ? I mean it passed smog while it was in the supra, just a different shell I dont see why it wouldnt. but I dont know anything about that..

It goes by the VIN. So if the vin says it has a 22re (lets say) and i put a 7mgte in, the emmissions reading will be more than that of the 22re (bigger motor). But the computer thinks it has a 4 cylinder but it really has a 6 which will almost never get low enough readings as a 4.
