Remove wheel and dust cap Take cotter pin out and unscrew nut, remove washer and outer bearing. Put nut back on and slide hub off of spud using the nut to catch the inner bearing which will pop out the wheel seal. Use a punch to remove races. Then install new races, libe bearings and re-install. Don't overtighten the hubs.. lol
Yes. That seems pretty straightforward. And no stupid remarks this time......................................................dumba$$
oh...and you are gong to get real greasy doing this...just a warning..no church clothes for this repair.
Ok so I'm gettin really fed up with my truck right now. Here's the problem. When I drive my truck not locked up an I hit anysize bump or a dip in the road I hear this creaking noise coming from the front. Idk what it could be anymore. My control arms are tight ball joints are tight everythings tight
Have you put different size rims on recently?? I got a problem like that and its a bolt on the control arm or A arm (dont know which not really that mech inclined) that for some reason gets enough angle when my bags are slightly deflated from full lock it rubs the rim over bumbs and definetly when turning. I went from 18's to 17's never happened before this. Or have you replaced any bushings or joints recently?? Could most likely be a wheel bearing but before tearing it apart since it is quite a task make sure everything else is overseen. Id say put it on stands and simulate hitting bumps have a friend or something hit the tires with a mallett and see if you can get a more clear idea were the sound is coming from.
I have cando tubular control arms. An I replaced the outter tie rod end when I did the front. Wheels were on before I bagged it an it didn't make the sound. Maybe I should replace the inner tie rod end aswell
i'd say it's the bushing on the cando arms. since they are single shear with the bolt pulling it into that mount that gets welded in the stock hole, i could see the arm rubbing against the mount and making some noise. maybe try loosening the lower bolts and putting some graphite or lube of some kind.
I'll have to try that. It makes sense that it would cause noise from the mount itself. It's just seriously pissing me off lately
Did you coat the bolts through the lowers with Anti-seize? If not they will probably start to make noise....
No I didn't I didn't know I had to. Good tip to know I'm gonna do tht this weekend. What would you recommend to use
So I pulled the bolt outta my lowers yesterday coated them with lube and where the bushing meets the mounts an it still is makin this noise it's really pissin me off idk what the problem is
I thought about it a bit more. Could it be your fenders moving or rubbing on something? Or maybe your front bumper is rubbing on your fenders. I know the bumper side mounts always like to rust and break off. Those parts would be quick and easy to give a once over check.
I was actually thinking that aswell. Noticed the bolt was gone maybe that's what it is I'll have to put one in an see. But I think it might be my upper arms. One bolt keeps comin loose
