So me and my bro did this to his ranger and I was thinkin bout doing it to the toy but with a slight few udgraded ideas such as a hydro ram or actuator instead of stacked bags for the lifting mechanism. Let me know what you guys think and maybe some ideas on how you'd set it up. Im not trying to have one of those dancing beds but this setup made it very easy to work on everything on his truck also bed came off with 3 bolts.

 

I've never seen it done with stacked bags before. But I like the mod an wanna do it as well. There was a guy at summer madness tht used a hydro cyclinder to tilt it. Maybe use an air actuator or something.

If you have a nice setup an a sheet metal bed you could raise it at shows an show it off or if your gas tank is relocated an don't wanna put a filler neck in the bed floor you could raise it an fill up. An plus it's different

I don't understand the hating. What's right for you might not be exactly right for the next guy, ya know? There are a lot of great ways to build and use a Toyota truck. There are also plenty of legitimate reasons why you might want this mod on your truck. The first of which that I can see is access to your suspension system for tuning your four link to achieve the best pinion angle, etc., or if you need to access a bag or air component. It makes a lot more sense if your truck is sitting on the ground then if you have some tall lifted 4x4 you can just climb right under and sit up to work on.

I plan to do a tilt bed on my '89 but it will go to the back so I have equal ease of access to the 4 link and air components on both sides of the truck.

 

Yah when we did this to my bro's ranger it was for the whole access to fix stuff. After all Fords are piles of junk. Not a useless dumpbed since there literally wont be more than a topped off welded shell of the bed, not for show purposes and making it dance around like a S10 bed but more for something not everyone has and to have quick easy access to everything there also the fact that if need be to take the bed off was only 3 bolts 2 on the hinges and 1 to remove the bag from the top bracket making the process of removing the bed take less than 5 minutes. Id say if you dont understand then dont reply to the post. Im looking for constructive criticism and better ideas of planning this out as my bro is no longer here and cant help me tinker with stuff.

I'd say to use a actuator or 2. Maybe you could use one bag with a better pivot point so you get the same lift without using 2 bags stacked

A GREAT reason to do it would be access. If a truck is laid out and the air system dies, how do you get to it to fix it? I can barely fit a jack under the frame of my truck static...I don't know how 'bagged guys do it.

And, helps if you get a flat. As for a filler setup, I like it. Flip to fill We used to have a hot rod with a fuel cell in the trunk. People looked at us like retards pumping gas into the trunk. A few times the lady would yell out the door of the building that we have to fill gas cans outside the vehicle. Then walked over and saw.

I saw do it. But use an air cylinder. Little cleaner looking, and could be tucked away with a cantilever arm to operate. I vote for rear flip too. Orrrr....raise straight up

getting to the underbed is tough... a flip/tilt bed would make things easy

 

On second thought, if its for access to your air system you might want a mechanical way to get in. Or use an electric actuator. Just keep the battery under the hood.
