Ok, so I have just purchased an 18RG so I am selling the brand spank'n new 2XR hybrid I just finished building. It is new with 0 miles on it. Here are the pics of it on the stand. It is currently installed in my celica but has NEVER been fired up or turned over. It is still sitting in assembly lube and just needs a quick valve adjustment and thats it. the carb and headers in the picture are not incuded but are for sale separately. where you located? did you assemble it? if not who did? where was machine work done who did you get the new parts from? what brand gaskets? got any links to other builds done by the same people? (longevity concerns) not that i dont trust you, but ive never heard of you, and you just signed up here. im about to build pretty much the same motor for my celica, and this would save me a ton of time and a lil bit of cash.
No problem on the questions, I would expect it from anyone seriously interested. I just signed up here the other day because I am a regular at 1stgencelica.com. and i thought i would post it here to let the minitruckers have a whack at it. If you go to 1stgencelica.com you can register there and see my entire build on this engine in the project gallery. very little machine work was needed for this engine. The machine work was performed by JIS engines in Arlington, Tx. Machine work included minimal decking of the block, overboring to match pistons .50 mm over stock, checking crank journals, installing new rod pin bushings and cleaning the block. Next they cleaned the head and cut the valve seats to match the new set of stock size just to ensure a good seal. They installed the new bronze valve guides and assembled the valve train(springs, retainers, keepers, oil seals etc.) as well as surfacing the head and manifold mating surfaces to ensure a true flat mating surface. Once the head was assembled by JIS I completed assembly of the upper and lower assemblies including laying the crank, fitting pistons and rods, installing timing cover, oil pump, water pump, front and rear main seals etc... New head bolts were used and all gaskets are felpro or better. the headgasket is a felpro unit. all head porting was done by me prior to going to JIS for machine work. Port work consisted of mild smoothing to 90 grit of intake and exhaust ports to smooth out the rough casting and casting lines were removed as well as opening the ports to match the gaskets. Rods are factory toyota forged units crank is a new topline forged unit (meets or exceeds toyota specs) pistons are keith black hypereuctic units .50mm over all gaskets are felpro or better. perfect engine for a celica or truck. i tried to address as many of your questions as i could, in case i have forgotten anything feel free to let me know. questions are welcomed. I am located in Arlington, Tx.
shipping quote to 98134? not 100% sure i want it yet, gotta do some research and see if the back wages check comes in. been a member @ 1stgen since way back, havent been there in a while ill go poke around
Are the headers used or new? Also how much shipped to 92532? Do they hang low? Just incase i bagg it dont want them to hit.
Keep in mind the frieght quotes assume a residential to residential (no dock acess) delivery where a truck with liftgate is needed to load and unload. This adds aproxamately $70 to the shipment. If you have dock access we can save a few bucks otherwise these are the quotes. 98134 Seattle WA. - $300 92532 Lake Elsinore, CA - $256 shipping on engines can be a bit spendy, however i am negotiable and willing to work with the buyer to put a deal together. The headers do not hang lower than the pan does, you'll probably scrape pan before headers. The headers have never been installed or run on an engine. I would call them new but the black coating on them is pretty scratched up and could use a new finish.
here is a picture of the distributor on the engine. i still consider it new as it is only on the engine to check fitment. it has never been hooked up or run. any additional questions. let me know. pm me if you would like my phone number and I am happy to talk to you on the phone.
at an opening bid of $995 i'm sure SOMEBODY will buy it. I sold a bone stock 22R last year on ebay for $900. I decided to do a flat shipping cost to anywhere in the US of $175. If it's more than that I'll eat the difference.
i really want this... but, the dentist just told me i cant have my wallet back so im out, thanks for the quote. ps build over at 1stgen looks great
Thanks. Have put alot of time and $ into this project. Just need to move this engine now. I know about the dentist thing...I have my last apointment august 10th to complete $5k worth of work...yikes! But he gives me lots of gas so i rather enjoy the visits. party time!
Did not sell on ebay with an opening bid of $995. Willing to take $900 plus shipping just to move this.
I have a few more questions if you don't mind... 1. Bearing clearance measured? 2. Rings installed 2,5,7,11? 3. Torque specs used on main caps, rods, headbolts? 4. Domed pistons? If so, did you check for valve clearance? 5. Shipping quote to 77339? Sorry bro, don't mean to disect your work. Just wanna be sure coz it's something I can build myself but, if it saves me time and money I'd be willing to throw down the bills... Thanks!
1.I can abide some disection of my work, in fact i expect it. But I can't be expected to remember every clearance spec measured or every torque spec tightened. That said, with the new crank shaft and new bearings the clearances were well within factory Toyota tolerances or I would not have assembled them. 2.I have never heard of #2,5,7,11 piston rings. I used the rings that were reccomended to me with the pistons. Hastings PN#5645 020 3.All factory Toyota torqe specs were observed from the 20/22R factory rebuild specification manual. If that's not good enough for you, be advised you can torque all those mains and head bolts in about 15 minuites if you are not confident in my work. 4.Pistons are the early 22R "pop-up" or "volcano" top pistons some refer to them as domes but I don't consider them a dome top. I know from experiance this piston and head cmbination has no issues with valve clearance. 5.can't give you a shipping quote until tomorrow, but i can tell you since you're here in texas you'll get the best rate, expect about $150. yeah, you could build this...but not this cheap. I've got over $1400 in this. pm me any further questions.
Let me clarify a couple of my questions a bit... 1. Simply asking if the bearing clearances were measured. Not asking what the measurements were. *Only asking because it's not the original crank that came with that block from the factory. 2. 2, 5, 7, 11 are clock positions. Were the rings installed with the end gaps staggered in these positions? 3. Just wanted to know what torque spec chart you used? Haynes, Chilton, FSM, LCE, Google, Friend, Forum? They seem to differ for some reason... 4. Answered, Thanks. FYI- My hybrid hit valves with standard bore slugs... It was fine turning it by hand until I fired it up. 5. Answered, Thanks. Like I said earlier, not trying to doubt/insult your work just making sure... It's alot of money to throw down and I wouldn't want to have to go over it. Thanks man!
then 1. yes, bearing clearances measured. 2. yes, ring gaps set properly 3.torque spec chart used was Toyota factory green manual, not aftermarket chart 4&5 previously answered. let me know if you have any additional questions.
