wasnt really sure where else to post this:shrug: but im finally getting around to going through my pre taco axle i picked up for my taco. I'm gonna put new everything on it brake wise, and go through the internals and everything. I was curious if anyone knows of a decently priced rear disc conversion for these axles? I figured now would be the time to do it if i'm wanting to redo the brakes anyways

sorry, 5 lug, and i think its a 92 or 94. I was thinking of getting some tacoma front rotors and calipers, and making my own brackets. I saw Max at Bio Kustoms had mentioned setting rotors on and putting a schrader valve on the calipers and putting pressure to them to hold them to the rotor, then just building the brackets

Are you bagging it? Do you want to keep the e-brake and cables? Some people just lay it out when parked.
There are some rotors that will work from other vehicles with the same lug pattern. You can make custom caliper mounts and/or get a machine shop to help you.

bagging yes, that why i picked the axle up. I'm just trying to get it in running order and under the truck so i can do as much fab work as i can without taking it off the road. And i don't care about the ebrake, its a auto, and i'll lay it out when parked anyways. I can make mounts fine, i do fab work at an offroad shop, I more or less wondering what rotors and calipers would be my best option

Well look around at what you have with the same lug pattern would be a start. Like a Nissan drift car or something. Yea I guess matching the thickness of the rotor with the caliper. Mazda's are good I think too. Maybe a Celica? Depends on what you yourself can find. Look around:eyecrazy:
Might want to pick up a proportioning valve with an adjustable knob on it. NAPA or something. I got one for like $35.
And think about brake lines because you might want some new braided ones. Make sure they are going to remain intact throught all of the suspension travel.

wells that's y i was thinkin the front setup on the tacoma, same pattern, and it would match. Everything will be steal braided, and don't worry about travel, did this one at work:waytogo:

yea that combo came up in a search on another forum. I'm doing my front pads an calipers this weekend, so i was curious about the front working, then i'd just double what i buy, and buy a set of calipers. If i cant figure it out, i'll test fit it while i got it all apart

Yea try and test fit it and see what kinda caliper mount would be necessary. I am not sure it would work though because I think the rotor hat is taller with a rear rotor.

Ive mounted 94 cobra rotors on a toyota axle. 11.65 X .66 IIRC. drilled and slotted.

I need to buy calipers and make some brackets. But thats the easy part....

On my 88 ,think it is the same on yours, 12.9'' Wilwood drilled/slotted rotor with Toyota 4 piston caliper from a 4 Runner;rera Mustang SVO 11.32'' drilled slotted rotor ,with caddy 48mm single piston caliper w/ e-brake,& made my own bracket.
