which header should I run on my 22RE with it lowered, I don't want anything that will hang down lower than the truck, that's why I kept the stock manifold

    any suggestions??

Unless you are rediculously lowered, if its an inch below frame like mine, you'll be fine. I have a pace setter. But my frame is also 3" off the ground :D Most trucks have parts of the exhaust hanging too low anyways. Its worse in the center than the front as far as steep driveways and breakover angles.

that's what I'm afraid of, in ND they have no idea what slanted driveways or smooth roads are...

damn I may have to stick with my stock manifold..

    :rolleyes2:

Its not an issue for me hitting it except on certain speed bumps. But thats if i go straight on, and if it is totally massive. It drags the freeway more. But with a minor drop you should be fine. Check summitracing.com and LCE.

As long as make sure your header is a 2wd model, you should be fine. Like standardbyker88 mentioned, the section of the exhaust under the cab is usually what will scrape if it's not tucked up past the frame, not the header. I have the LC pro header which is pretty much the biggest header out there and it doesn't stick out past the frame at all.

I have LC pros as well, actually on my third set, but if it wasnt for it being ceramic coated for looks i wouldnt buy them. they have all broke on the flange, complete break off. They always seem to rattle against the torsion bar, which i think causes the break, but like they said it wont scrape the header itself. Pace setter makes a header thats just as big in diameter as LC but its black, not ceramic coated. Anything in the short stack range will work.

When i ordered my last set from LC, they tricked me. They said it was the last one they had, & were willing to give me 10% off since it had minor scratches towards the flange, I told them it was for show, so if the scratches were not noticeable, i would take it. Got them in, & got screwed scratches on the top side.
I think they figured send it to Guam far far away, where shipping it back to them would be an issue. Lesson learned

i've been reading up on headers all week, LCE and Doug Thorley TRI Y are basically your best ones from what i've read..BUT....I have heard people on yotatech.com have good success with Pacesetter, although if you get the black, the black paint will peel off in a matter of minutes..And there is OBX which i've read is better than pacesetter, its polished stainless steel, 1/2 flange and is only like $160 shipped..I've been thinking about buying one of these OBX headers http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

the only thing i've heard with these is you need to use an OEM exhaust manifold gasket, the one it comes with is crap..and also you might have to enlarge some holes for the air injection bolts

The flange problem against the torsion bars is due to a incorrect installation!!
If the exhaust system is laid out correctly( all up inside the frame ) there will not be any problems!! I changed all my flanges too two hole from the regular three!
LC are the best out there, stainless steel & ceramic coated & dyno tested!!
    Hands down the best!!

With that said, My exhaust doesnt hang, & I utilize the stock hangers, so is the crack a installation concern or or design concern, since you guys have changed the flanges from the stock. I think its a design, but i agree LC products are good, just pricey & the customer service blows for me. LC gets my vote, just wanted to share my experience, for those who havent had LC

does anyone know if a 4wd header will fit on the 2wd? anyone else have a pacesetter? just wondering if they are even worth it, i like the price but would hate for it to crack or not fit right...

4wd headers look taller, judging by the LCEngineering.com pictures.

The 4wd header hangs lower, and there might also be some issues clearing the front swaybar (different location for 2wd/4wd).

Can the guys with different headers all post a measurement from the top exhaust stud height to the bottom of the collector? I want to compare pacesetter for others that may sit higher. I don't know if the 20/22Rs sit lower in a 79-back coil spring frame compared to the later torsion frames. But a pacesetter does fit fine on mine other than that. A frame Z would take care of that :D
