Ya the frame is that narrow I think it's because some of these had dual gas tanks an the tanks go right under the cab. So for them both of them to fit it needs to be narrow

Hahaha I'd do I for you might be a bit of a drive to nor cal but I'd do it if you had the parts. An today all I got were the rails fully welded up we work tomoro through thursday so not gonna finish it til Friday or saturday. The rails are 2x4 3/16" an I'll be puting 1/4" plate gussets
where I need to an also some 2x2 crossmember design. Basically whatever he wants I'm doing

What size welder are you using? Did you prep the weld areas? My only concern is whether you got good penetration. It looks like a big part of the weld is just sitting on top of the butt joint.

:)But I do like your design ideas, and am glad to hear that you are gussetting the joints, butt welds can be very weak if the penetration isn't there.

Are you going to box in the frame in front of this sub assembly?

I'm using a Lincoln 180 220 volt. Areas were prepd an I laid down one bead it sat low into the metal so I ground it smooth an took the grinder an made like a valley where the bead was an went over it with another bead. So basically I welded it twice on each joint. My welder was set at the highest temp an I'm gonna box in front of an along side of the new notch back with 1/4" plate an diamond gusset the butt joints

Haha ya he's not payin an I wouldn't make him unless we were doin this at my house but I'd only charge him like $150. But he filled up my welding bottle which was $77 an he bought me lunch an rockstars haha
