I say go with the 1uz. Cheaper to buy (unless you want a 5 speed), and fits the engine bay a lot better. It's also way lighter then the jz motors.

^ What is wrong with you? lol jk. Not to mention I just spanked a Built ls1 camaro the other day, and a new challenger. hehe

I wouldn't recommend the 2jz again to anyone in the toyota pickup chassis being that its so damn heavy and really messes with weight distribution and handling. You'll never get traction unless you have a good rear end with some wide sticky tires.

If I did it again I would go with the 1uz v8 as they are cheap and can be powerful. you can get superchargers really cheap for them as well. Next in line would be the 2rz motor but, wheres the torque? not as much fun.

Then theres the 1jz. Still a very powerful motor that is lighter and cheaper then the 1jz and will give you great results as well.

so if I did a 2rz then I'd build it and turbo it, 1uz would need to be built and boosted as well, and the 1jz would need a single turbo, these are my standards as 400hp is my minimum goal in a swap.

Also depends on what you want to use the truck for and your budget?

    Id say be different.

Before I decided to go 302 ford, I started gathering parts for a 60* GM v6.

    1. A COMPACT engine. verrry verry small. and featherlight.
    2. RWD block, T5 camaro/firebird trans has a hydralic clutch (saves alot of headache)
    3. Can be anything from a 2.8 pushrod to a DOHC 3.4.
    4. Tons of compression options from stock pistons. 7.5,9.0,11.35, 13.XX, ect.
    5. 3500 Malibu heads flow downright amazing.
    6. There is aftermarket support for it. Roller rockers, ARP stuff, Cams, Springs, ect. Heads are a cousin of LSX series. Swappable valvetrain stuff.

For a megasquirt run all motor 3.4v6 hybrid.. Its avarage to get 250-275 Crank HP.

My build was going to be a 93-97 camaro v6 shortblock and trans. (all stock)
05-06 Malibu 3500 non vvti heads. LS6 valvesprings. SBF roller rockers.
A huge cam to bleed off compression of 11.35. Custom pushrods.
Flipped intake and a little exhaust porting.
Arp rod/main bolts and a factory windage tray.

Just giving an opinion. Toyota power is nice, but chevy power is proven cheap. If your curious, check out 60degreev6.com

V8 power or go home. The JZ engines are awesome but nothing beats the sound of a V8, NOTHING! I have the 1UZFE in my 96 Lexus LS400 and it is the smoothest engine I have ever heard or felt. Also the 1UZ engines of a compression ratio of 10:1 so you have to run 91 or higher octane.

hmm alright. my only worry is emissions. if it werent for that i could drop a 350 and tranny in for dirt cheap.

but im really liking uz id have to boost it.

What about it? Just use the Lexus stuff. I do not see why it would not pass emissions. Many people in Cali use this engine in many different swaps and they get it to pass emissions.

be really careful for those who lives in cali, call state ref before you do a engine swap

in cali , a truck/suv motor cant be used in a car

a engine from a car cant be used in a truck

i dont think 1uz or jz is legal in cali, eventhought you pass emission, they still fail you for the engine modfication,

engine swaps have rules in cali, a jdm motor thats never been used in us is not legal too, like nissan sr or rb is not legal in cali

turbo or supercharge is not legal unless there is a carb certificate or sticker

intake and header is not legal unless there is a carb legal stamp or sticker

cat is expensive and special made for cali too

the only way you can get away with the smog check is a hookup from your friend , once you get pull over ask to pop the hood , your game is over, they give you a ticket ask yuo to go to state ref, at state ref they check everything , if there is anything illegal , you have to change is back, meaning if you have a illegal engine swap you have to swap it back

    California SUCKS!!!

the thing is an used 22re/tranny with low mileage is hard to find

    rebuild ones are hella expensive

i think they should really change the law, if a car's tail pipe emission meets the requirement, that means the car runs clean , so it should be legal to have any motor in any car as long as it passes smog check

i dont know to much about swap on pickups, considering all the swap requires same amount of work

i would get a 1uz with w58 or r154, its really cheap to have, good power, smooth v8 light weight
